Company saya they give 10% commission for referrals. They want to pay me $65.

This company that I freelance for told me that they give a commission to people who refer them work. This company is a small Mom and Pop shop that works in film. They send out equipment at pretty large prices. Usually a rental for them brings in around $7K starting and more depending on the scope of the job. I referred them a client who contacted me directly. I could have poached said client, but I did the “right” thing and referred the client to the company I freelance for. Now, their bookkeeper is asking me to send them an invoice of $65. She understands my fear as a POC (not racist, but colored fear rwgarding fairness in the workplace is real) dealing with talking to the higher-ups and inquiring about the $65 invoice. I dont want to lose my spot with this company as a freelancer, but she and I both know how some folks get funny about money or paying people their fair share (that they fucking promised!). I find it hard to believe that they sent out a rental for only $650.

Ive seen their books for 2021 in July and they already grossed over 1.2 MILLION dollars as a small company.

The exact verbiage that the bookkeeper used was “This is the payment after net rental”.

Professionals of Reddit, what is the best course of action to find out what the actual rental price was and negotiate a fair cut?

Edit: I suck at Reddit.
