I began work as a insurance specialist under someone who has 7 years under their belt, and they were leaving in 2 weeks.
I will add this is a private clinic all managed by one physician.
It turned out to be a sink or swim teaching method, which I have never agreed with. I would be shown something once, and expected to do it perfectly from then on without any help. I was also expected to give the same exact results as the 7 year person, with the same speed as well.
I was even told at one point to just figure it out and not ask for help. This by the physician.
Now I have some experience with insurance in the medical filled, but I was not prepared to start this job on my own on day three. I was already expected to go over surgery cost and benefits with a patient, after only seeing it happen once.
I was told by multiple coworkers that the physician has a very particular way of how they want things run, and I have to deal with the stress. I was even laughed at when I told them how frustrated I was.
After making the decision to leave, I had a meeting with the physician. During this meeting, I was told I am entitled and not smart. Entitled because I expected them to bend to my will and change the training method. But honestly, what method? The person I am learning under leaves at 2pm, and only works 3 days out of the week? And they said not smart, because I couldn't handle the job. I tried explaining the work is fine, its that I didn't have sufficient teaching methods.
All and all, I realized my worth and decided to take my entitled ass to a different job.
