Howdy- first post here, figure it wouldn't hurt to throw it out there, but I am semi-new to the workforce, and I can't do much in lieu of the usual 20-40 hour work week as I am both cognitively and physically disabled and need flexibility in order to keep myself as healthy-ish as I can be. Barely managed a part-time ice cream scooping job (way harder than you think!)
I'm not on disability and not even fully diagnosed as the family only recently got decent health insurance the past year. I live in a conservative state with labor laws that make independent businesses hell to work for. As I'm not on disability I do not have a salary cap so that's not an issue, what is an issue is miraculously finding work that will not treat me like I'm a lazy waste of space due to lack of “proof” of disability (and even then they'd treat me like that anyways)
Freelance is on the table; I've been given a great opportunity to be able to live with extended family largely rent free, so paying large bills aren't an immediate need so the slow start of Freelance is more feasible for me. There-in lies though what my options are in regards to tax payment, all that stuff.
I'm asking this as I am moving to Canada in a handful of months, and I need to figure out what I can do in terms of money so I can continue my college education and just… get stuff (clothes, quality of life things, nice things for the ye olde morale). Given I am often ill and in pain, work seems impossible, but I know there are ways to still make somewhat of a living without hurting myself horribly and I'd like to see my options.
