Few months ago, we had a complaint from a customer which ended with a full refund of a few hundred dollars. Our employer paid for the extra expenses, but used our tip pool to refund the customer. Not sure about other states, but that is completely illegal in California.
We only have 4 employees, so I'm a bit unsure of how to go about reporting this without getting called out. I was the only one who complained, but was just shot down by everyone else.
We've also been told not to discuss our wages, and surprise surprise everyone has a different wage per hour, mine being the lowest at 14.
Wondering if I could still report this to the labor people after quitting?
edit: we received $0 in tips that paycheck, unfortunately I misplaced the paystub
