The company I left after 10 years only acknowledges 5-15-25 year anniversaries.

I just left a job for a new opportunity. On my 5 year I got a catalogue of a bunch of sub $100 objects to pick from. It was unimpressive but I picked some pots and pans that lasted 2 meals. A year later we are acquired by a larger company. My colleague gets a $300 pen for his 5 year shortly after, and I’m excited to see what happens on my 10 year. A few years go by and July is my 10 year anniversary. My colleague still proudly displaying his $300 pen that he never uses, I patiently await for something in the mail. A month goes by, not a big deal, sometimes it’s a quarterly thing. Another couple months go by…and just as I’m about to send a reminder email to HR I decide to consult the manual. I look…and they only acknowledge 5/15/25 year anniversaries. WHAT?!…

I look…and they only acknowledge 5/15/25 year anniversaries. WHAT?! What is the logic, reason? I didn’t even get a plaque like I did for my 5 year. Nothing. No mention. I feel like it’s a slap in the face…10 and 20 years these days is quite the accomplishment.

Anyway- On Monday I start my new job and my position was posted online within 18 hours of my notice. I guess I won’t have another chance to be disappointed not acknowledging my 20th year here.
