So for a little context I work in New Jersey in one of the larger retail chains and I work in a cooler.
So me and my coworkers keep our things in the cooler on a cart off to the corner of the cooler since it's never used and since our department never handles non-packaged food we usually don't have to worry about cross contamination unless one thing spills on another so that's why we continue to keep our stuff there.
Today all our stuff was taken to the security office since we can't technically have stuff there which I totally understand but apparently they searched all our stuff including my coworker's bookbag that had his CBD pen in it and got escorted out and suspended.
The thing me and my coworkers are confused about is whether they are aloud to search our things or not since I know they need a reasonable basis for the search but I don't think bag placed in wrong location counts as that.
