How am I realistically ever supposed to afford a house?

A few months ago I was in such a dead end and underpaid job that I could barely afford to eat and pay my bills. Since then I did find a new position with slightly better pay and a lot better of a company culture. While I can pay all of my bills, there really isn’t anything left over to put towards savings. How is anyone supposed to save up for a down payment on a property? I’m not even talking about a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom white picket fence house I’m just talking about any sort of property that I can call my own and I don’t have landlords intrusively letting themselves in whenever they feel like it or dreading to see how much my rent has increased when I need to resign my lease. I’ve seen advice like “go get a college degree” but does anyone know how…

I’ve seen advice like “go get a college degree” but does anyone know how draining it is to be working a manual job for 9-10 hours a day then be expected to do night classes on top of that? Let alone how would anyone who’s already living paycheck to paycheck be able to afford even a cheaper community college?

So what is the realistic outcome? Apartment hopping from shitty landlord to shitty landlord? Never being able to afford a place I can call home for the long term? I check Zillow almost daily (maybe I should stop for my mental health) but even an older rundown house in my area is at MINIMUM 350k and I’m supposed to save up 10% for a down payment or even 20% to avoid PMI? Yeah that’s never ever going to happening.
