I made a LinkedIn post about mental health and manager decided it was a good idea to mock me in public.

Unfortunately I don’t have receipt. In retrospect should’ve taken a screenshot but I was upset and deleted the thread within 1 second of seeing it. So all I can do now is paraphrase. I’ve been quiet quitting + job hunting and have been playing up the LinkedIn game. Nothing shady just your typical wholesome congrats and curated opinions from a millennial perspective. I have ADHD. I saw an article on how people with ADHD tend to internalise the unfair treatment they receive in the workplace and develop other mental illnesses as a result. So I shared the article with a blip about how that’s exactly what happened to me. Again, I didn’t name any names or shade anyone. I have ADHD. I saw an article on how people with ADHD tend to internalise the unfair treatment they receive in the workplace and develop other mental illnesses as a result. So I shared the article with a blip about how that’s exactly what happened to me.

Again, I didn’t name any names or shade anyone. IRL I have never once in my 10+ year career use mental illness as an excuse to deflect criticism. I don’t think my coworkers even knew I had mental illness.

In came my manager, who saw the post and decided to comment (again, I paraphrase not their exact words), “the irony of your post being that you internalise so much criticism but haven’t developed any self-awareness. You get 99% compliments from your coworkers and decided to internalise and complain about the 1% criticism. Get a grip. (Shrug emoji).”

For context, this person’s sense of humour is unironically “oh Pee_A_Poo is Asian and he has budgie parakeets so he’s probably growing them as food”. So I hope you can understand I read their post in my head with their voice and took offence.

I deleted the post without replying. I don’t know how long their comment stayed on my feed for all to see. And now they are blowing up my Teams trying to talk. I just told them I’m busy with deadlines and can’t talk until I’m back in office.
