I immigrated to America from a Third World country…
I grew up dirt poor. Putting water in my ketchup bottle poor. Cutting up the expiration sticker on my tag poor. (If you know you know.)
Work is necessary. Sometimes you have to put in an effort that you’re not getting paid for to show that you deserve that position that you are capable of being in that position.
A livable wage is only meant to sustain shelter, food, and water. Not travel, not going out to eat, not luxury clothing, Bajillion pairs of shoes etc. I think America forgets that those things are a privilege.
The point is that in America, you can work your way up from a livable wage to have all those excess luxuries that we get to enjoy in this country. By not wanting to work, you are getting in your own way of getting those luxuries. You have to work for those luxuries you don’t just get to have them because you exist. That is the literal definition of being entitled thinking that you deserve things you haven’t worked for.
I think after the pandemic, everything got worse. I went to the post office the other day, and this lady looked at me dead in my eyes and told me that I should’ve stuck all the stickers on myself like I don’t know where they go because I’m a customer I literally don’t work here. She then proceeds to tell me how to do it myself instead of just doing some thing she’s literally being paid for on top of the fact that she’s listening to music in her ears. I feel like this movement contributes to the lack of professionalism that we see nowadays. I feel like it contributes to the entitlement
Idk that’s just my opinion.
