I’m currently working for a franchise, and we have an interesting setup. There are no managers, even though there are people who’ve been there way longer than me, are older than me, and more invested in the company. Whenever they tell me to do something I do it. I asked one of these ladies about it one time, and she replied “I don’t get a manager’s pay”.
Anyways, a couple weeks ago the schedule came out, and I wasn’t working Saturday so I made plans to drive a couple hours to see my semi-long distance partner. A few days before that, the schedule changed and I was expected to find someone to cover. Thankfully I did.
Now, a week ago I asked off for a week mid May to travel with my family. It was given the ok, but yesterday I was told I’d be expected to find someone to cover my shifts. Like many part time jobs, I work 2-3 shifts a week on different days of the week, but Tuesdays/Thursdays ~70% of the time. I’m supposed to find cover for those days.
The person who writes the schedule wants to talk to me because I asked why she can’t put down other employees to work if they haven’t asked off. I’m a little worried about losing my job.
She’s calling me in an hour, any tips on what I should/shouldn’t say?
