I am a CSR in an insurance office. I have been in insurance for years but this is the first agency where I am being told to go on my Facebook and post things like ”hey friends and family! Let me quote your insurance!” Or “when you hang out with your friends this weekend ask them if you can quote them!” Or ”When you’re out in public, get into conversations with people and ask them.” (That one is a HARD no!)
It’s really only one co-worker who’s bad about this. She is not my boss but apparently thinks she is, since our actual boss is hardly ever here. Well, whatever. It won‘t work. I don’t answer to her.
I will cross sell to our current clients. That is part of my job description as a CSR. I consider that customer service. BUT, I am not in sales, I am not a producer. So therefore I am not going of my way to beg people to let me quote their insurance. I do get commission if I get friends/family insured by us. But I am not money motivated. My base salary is enough to live comfortably. I don’t know why my coworker thinks she can stand there in my office and TELL me, not ask, what to post on MY FB page. But she’s delusional if she thinks I am actually doing it. (Don’t worry, I don’t have anyone I work with on my FB. In fact, I blocked them. Nothing personal I just don’t even want them finding me and creeping on me. Especially her because she is hella nosey!)
She even uses threats. Says “if we don’t get X amount of Life issued we’re all on the chopping block!” But she specifically stands in my office and says that while looking right at me.
Well, make as many threats as you want. If I go, I go. My conscious is clear. I go the extra mile with our clients whenever I can. I cross sell to current clients to help our office get our numbers. I do my job as a CSR. That does not include selling insurance to strangers, using my social media as a sales platform, nor bugging people I have personal relationships with about it. And she cannot make me feel bad about not doing it. But it is getting SO annoying!
