I work for a big logistics company, they handle most of the whisky exports from Scotland. I get paid £10.50 an hour and I do a minimum 50 hours a week and I'm constantly pressured to do overtime at the weekend and I'm being told that I am required to do an hour of overtime everyday meaning I will be working 11 hours a day, so a year ago I asked for a promotion and some extra training and was told yes and that they where looking for someone to step up and do this but the thing was I was told I would need to step up and show that I wanted it and I did I done all the overtime helped out whenever I could trained people and put my all in and after a year of this and no word as to what was happening to be told we are to busy right now and that I should keep doing all the overtime but I challenged this 2 weeks ago stating that I have shown that I can step up and got into an argument with my manager which ended with me saying I won't be doing anymore overtime and that I would be leaving and my manager responded to this by going in a mood and not talking to me for 2 weeks so I got offered a new job with more pay and less hours and hopefully less stress and I took it and put my weeks notice in and my manager still hasn't spoke to me and told my supervisor to tell me he will try and make time tomorrow to discuss it with me. I was hesitant to leave at first but following him not making time to discuss it with me has reassured me that I have made the right decision.
Tl;Dr manager thought that lying to me would make me work harder and it worked but in the end I still quit
