an upper level manager at amazon told my roommate that if the workers unionize, they’ll just move operations to a different warehouse

since they opened up so many new locations since covid began that are currently standing empty. He said once workers unionize, they'll find themselves coming into an empty warehouse and therefore will be laid off for redundancy reasons as opposed to union reasons. My roommate is an independent contractor so I guess the dude felt comfortable telling him this stuff Is this a real threat?
