Never considered I'd be in a situation that I'd burn a bridge but here we are, rebel seal
From the moment I was hired 3 months back, my peer/same position who got me up to speed liked to say things like “You'll have to pace yourself so we don't run out of things to do” then proceeded to complain that I got along with people much faster than him because I'm a “girl”.
After I got comfortable I started to go above and beyond(and thanked for it) because I enjoy work and I enjoy staying busy. Coworker started to throw more “you're a woman” jokes and didn't like when I tried to do projects because he'd go out of his way to where I was to waste his time criticizing me. This escalated into me telling him to do it himself, he didn't, and then pointing out how much he did this, he doubled down on “just trying to help”. It was constant underhanded and negative comments every day. I went to management twice about his lack of work (by lack I mean I would come in to straight up nothing done the 4 hours he works alone) and how much he was harassing me. I told them he said to my face I was only liked “because I had a vagina” at this point I made it clear to management I would not be working with him and they needed to come up with a solution, I offered them a solution in turn.
A meeting between both managers and us was put off for a month but we sat down and they tried to force a personal get to know each other time which i declined. When asked if I would talk to and work together with the coworker I had been blatantly ignoring, I asked if we were keeping up with the work as it was and he said “Well yes but-” then mentioning a store project I offered a solution and he again said “Well yeah but-” Then it went into how he's trying to curb the “off colored” jokes in the workplace and how they know he had been “pushy” but it was because he had to manage more at his previous job (6 months he'd been in this role now) So apparently the meeting was called for them to make excuses for a 20 year old man who gets free passes and to put me on the spot. I did not agree to work with him and left the meeting to report him to HR to get it documented. Today I walked after calling my old job and confirming I had it back
So to those managers, thanks for invalidating my experiences and completely failing me after praising me for how much work I get done
Does anybody know how HR process works for things like this? They wanted to talk to me again but didn't get around to it that same day. I'm not sure if this makes an investigation more serious or not. I just hope if the next person needs to get help they have me in their corner
