Do what you love and you won’t work a day in your life! Yeah, but…

I saw a post on a different subreddit that made me think of the saying “Do what you love, and you won't work a day in your life!” I couldn't help but think that while that may be true from a mindset point of view, you also probably won't be paid much a day in your life either, unfortunately. I come from a creative background and went into the graphic design field. I have enjoyed the work, but at a certain point, getting paid fairly low compared to other careers that also require a college degree starts to wear on you. I branched out more into operations and marketing, but still get to do design from time to time. It's been pretty obvious that people know you will still do your art with or without being paid, so there is little need to actually pay much for that service. We…

It's been pretty obvious that people know you will still do your art with or without being paid, so there is little need to actually pay much for that service. We will ignore the fact that it also isn't always a revenue generator for now. I would imagine this would hold true for a lot of other people's passions.

So, I am curious if others have been able to do what they love while also providing a stable income for themselves?
