In Maryland, can an employer require you to stay at work for no additional pay.

Basically, my employer is extending showroom hours from 10-6 to 9-6, with this increase we now get a 1 hour lunch. While obviously a slap in the face to their employees, is this allowed? Can they legally extend hours using a “break” in the middle of the day as an excuse to not pay employees more?
