I have been at my job for nine months. When I started I was told I would receive a $2500 dollar sign on bonus. I was told it would be paid out partially at 3 months, 6 months and the final balance at a year. Well I never received any of the payments. I asked my manager about it around the 3, 6 and 9 month marks. Every time I was told he would look into it, but he never got back to me.
Around the 7 month mark I got an email from HR with a copy of the paperwork that I would need to sign in order to collect the bonus. The HR person that emailed me, who’s name is Amy, is the top HR supervisor for the company. I thought “sweet, they must have just been late but they will pay me now”.
Fast forward to this Monday of this week and I am asking my manager about it again. Once again he says he will check into it and that he will have an answer for me by the end of the day. Well he doesn’t, and Tuesday-Friday he was out of town. So I email Amy, the same HR person that I had been in contact with about it. I tell her that I never got the bonus and ask if she would check into it for me.
Cut to today. I get called into my managers office and told that I am insubordinate and that what I have done is grounds for termination, because I have gone over my managers head. I get a brief “sorry we were slow, but you still shouldn’t have done what you did”
