Management forced us back to the office with the promise we wouldn’t have to pay for our lunches

So I work for a company whose headquarters is overseas but we have a operation in the US. Around August 2022 they made the announcement we’re all expected back in the office two days a week. Which is not the biggest deal except a lot of my co-workers me included live 30 minutes to an hour away. They made promises that lunch would be provided and now in an effort to “cut costs” we are no longer getting lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays we got our stipend for lunch reduced.

Upper management loves to screw over the low ranking employees. First, we work holidays it’s a year round operation but while we are here holidays and weekends our managers have weekends off and holidays off. Second, our former CEO got caught doing shady business deals with Saudi Arabia which put the company in hot water and dropped our stock a solid 25% in one day. Lastly, and probably the biggest F U to the little guys was when they bought out another company for $2 billion when we couldn’t really afford to do that to begin with which has left the company strapped for cash which means we didn’t get yearly bonuses and our cost of living raise was only 3% when it really should’ve been 8%-10%. However, when we bring these things up in meetings we are assured what happens overseas doesn’t affect our operation which I just don’t believe.

My final straw was the lunch thing which I know sounds ridiculous but I just can’t keep on getting lied to and pretend everything is ok. I voiced my concerns to management and HR and they basically told me well we can’t afford but you should still come into the office. Looks like I’ll be not feeling well every Monday.
