I recently left a job that didn't give a shit about it's employees, would ask me to do more for no additional pay, and had no paid maternity leave but claimed to be a “family-centered” company. I quit and embraced being unemployed for about two months until I found the job I'm at now. They didn't have me fill out an application on top of sending my resume.
The interview was literally:
“What pay are you currently at?” I lied, so they offered me more.
“Here's our location, is that okay?” Totally fine.
“Are you looking to start soon?”
That was it.
Two weeks later was my start date and now they give us two WFH days. I realized I am more productive at home, so sometimes I take a WFH day off schedule of my two and no one notices/cares. In the past, I would offer up help for basic tech tasks in the office, but now I stay quiet because that's not my job. Anytime I am asked to do something outside my direct job description, I say no. I'm now in the top group and up for a pay raise because I show up and do the work that I was hired to do. Now I will be doing slightly more but will be paid to do so.
