I had more than enough of what my boss has been doing lately. I want to work as efficiently as possible, which you may imagine is something my boss would be happy about too, but no, he wants something else. What he wants exactly is hard to explain, but it’s certainly not efficient. I had to do double work this morning, while I could have just done what I normally do and be fine. During my break, I wanted to cry. I had never been so stressed out before.
On top of that, my boss has also send me messages via WhatsApp for the past 2 days. Messages that he could have easily told me face to face the next day, but he insisted sending me via WhatsApp, during my free time, apparently. I finally had enough. My boss doesn’t know I blocked him (yet). Should I tell him I blocked him? How do you think I should handle this situation? It’s like my boss doesn’t know a world without smartphones anymore, even though he is only 32, so he grew up without smartphones, unlike me.
I’m 10 years younger than him, and I don’t feel the need to constantly message him in my (and his) free time about everything that I want to talk about when I’m at work. I almost wish this case went to court. I have some pretty strict privacy laws in my country, and I’m pretty sure “messaging your employees in their free time”, while not necessarily illegal, would make for a fun legal case.
p.s. I live in the Netherlands, if anyone is interested and/or has advice about the law regarding messaging your employees in their free time. I’m not asking for advice regarding this, but if you have any, feel free to share it
