Job Posting Said $19-23 Per Hour, Was a Total LIE

Jumped through hoops to try for this job that had allegedly over 500 applicants. However, I had experience in the position and knew a lot about the company. First I showed up and my interview was canceled. I followed up and got crickets so I figured they just liked someone else since so many qualified ppl were apparently vying for this job. A month later a second recruiter from the co called and asked if I could interview that day or the next. Went to grueling 2 hour interview, of course had to take time off from my current job since it was so last minute. Was invited back to meet the corporate manager while he was in town on a visit the next week. Again, had to make up some BS to get off work early. We hit it off, this was another long interview that was nerve wracking,…

Went to grueling 2 hour interview, of course had to take time off from my current job since it was so last minute. Was invited back to meet the corporate manager while he was in town on a visit the next week. Again, had to make up some BS to get off work early. We hit it off, this was another long interview that was nerve wracking, but he called me personally to offer the job.

He asked what I wanted to make and I said your ad says $19 to $23 so I would like$23 given my qualifications. The guy acted totally taken aback and for a moment I thought he would rescind my offer and I felt like such an idiot.

He said the manager didnt even make that much (this was an assistant position) and the most he could offer was $18.

I accepted the offer but was pretty bummed. In the meantime, a manager job I had also been interviewing for made me an offer paying slightly less but it was right by my house vs a 45 minute commute to the other job that lied in their Indeed ad.

I took that job instead and sent a very nice follow up email and never heard from anyone there again. Guess they had to offer that job to the second most qualified candidate out of their batch of 500 resumes🤣

Also, I searched online bc I was so perplexed over the pay and this position was on multiple sites with that same pay range. I wish Indeed and these other job sites just wouldn't allow this behavior, but know they'd never turn down any ad cause they're greedy as well.
