Company didn’t train anyone else to use their interface system, and now I’m an asshole for putting in my notice.

2 years ago, my company trained me to use their interface system that carries data from client to corporate. They didn't bother to train anyone else, because I could fit the entire workload into my regular work hours. I have been very vocal that this is a bad idea. If I were in a car accident or otherwise suddenly MIA, they could not function normally. Friday, I let everyone know that I am leaving in about 3 months. As in, I gave them well over 2 weeks notice, because the folks in my department have been good to me over the years, especially my immediate supervisor. They have just enough time to let me train someone else on the system. But now my peers, people I considered good friends, are whispering around the office about how crappy it is for me to leave them hanging.

I still intend to stick it out for the other folks, but that honestly stings pretty badly. I'm not sure when I became the company's property, but apparently it happened at some point. /s
