Looking for advice – have been with the business 3 years, worked up into management. I make a base salary of $30k plus commission, which is mostly okay to get by with, but not always.
For me to feel comfortable that no matter how low commission is, I can still make ends meet, I want my base salary to be $50k.
For context, when I asked my boss to schedule a performance review for the purpose of a raise via Email, he later came in my office and said he thinks i absolutely deserve a raise, and that he was already thinking that before I asked him. He's actually not a bad guy and I feel like he respects me.
That being said, how do I lock in that 50? Should I come into the review tomorrow asking higher than that? (60/65?)
Any advice is appreciated, I've never been in this position before where I can negotiate for a higher salary.
