In Geneva Switzerland, we are voting to reduce working hours from 41 to 32 per week with the same salary by 2030

Short, neutral summary Popular initiative 181 entitled “For the creation of social and ecological jobs and the reduction of working hours (1000 jobs initiative)” proposes : – on the one hand, the creation by the State of 1,000 jobs per year in the health, social, care and ecological transition fields, in cantonal and municipal public authorities, subsidised establishments and non-profit institutions pursuing goals of public interest, as long as the unemployment rate remains high, and, – secondly, to encourage a reduction in working hours without any reduction in pay from 41 to 32 hours a week by 2030. The majority of the Grand Council rejected this initiative without putting forward a counter-proposal.
