so this might be kind of an obvious answer but i have some questions with how i should go about this. i requested off for a few days back in april as my company’s PTO policy is weird, and you basically lose all of your PTO on your anniversary date, then earn it again throughout the year. i wanted to use my pto before i lost it so picked some random days to take off. everything was approved as normal and i was able to take off.
the issue came a week after those days i had off, when i wasn’t paid for most of my PTO. i contacted my payroll department, HR, my supervisor – everyone i needed to to get things sorted out because this happened over the course of two weeks. come to find out, even though i was approved for all the PTO that was submitted, i actually had too much PTO approved and wouldn’t be paid for any of it. i was told i wouldn’t be paid and that it would all count as unpaid days off. i have screenshots of all of the approval messages as well. since it’s technically on me for not calculating my PTO properly, do i have any ground to stand on to fight this? is it too late to fight it since it happened about a month ago? it’s borderline impossible to actually speak to anyone at my company and the supervisors take days – weeks to answer, so i’ve been hesitant to reach out about it.
