Can someone help me explain why we shouldn’t/ don’t need to work 40 hours a week?
My mother and father are of the opinion that people these days are too lazy to work and it’s necessary that we all work 40 hours a week. They also believe that everyone should have to work in the office building because they claim studies show productivity goes down if we work from home.
Keep in mind these are financially poor people who think raising taxes on billionaires is bad. If we raise their taxes then billionaires will take their money and business elsewhere, as though they aren’t already doing that. They feel raising minimum wage makes prices go up ( as if we prices don’t go up anyway) and it isn’t fair on people who make barely above minimum wage. They argue that jobs paying minimum wage are only for temporary workers like teenagers and aren’t meant to support a family. They say They believe people who have more money have earned it and higher taxes on them is socialism that’s of the devil.
They say national healthcare is bad because then no one can get appointments, as though that isn’t already happening. There’s lots more I could go into.
Any proof or arguments you use against these statements would be greatly appreciated.
