The Banker and The Lie

“Will you take a loan from me?” Said the banker to his prey “It will help you reach your dreams!” to the worker he did say “Those who take a loan are sure to get ahead, or would you rather suffer poverty instead.” “No.” said the worker “to ask me is in vain.” “I've seen the debt of my friends, I don't want that drain.” “Work hard and pay it off easily.” he told his little lie For the banker new that hard work was never in short supply “And if I fail, my kids will starve because of what I did” “How can I ever take that risk, what you do that to your kid?” “Look at me” the banker said, “Why do you complain?” “If you do fail, you have a year to simply try again!” And so the worker thought about his two little boys at home.…

“Will you take a loan from me?” Said the banker to his prey

“It will help you reach your dreams!” to the worker he did say

“Those who take a loan are sure to get ahead,

or would you rather suffer poverty instead.”

“No.” said the worker “to ask me is in vain.”

“I've seen the debt of my friends, I don't want that drain.”

“Work hard and pay it off easily.” he told his little lie

For the banker new that hard work was never in short supply

“And if I fail, my kids will starve because of what I did”

“How can I ever take that risk, what you do that to your kid?”

“Look at me” the banker said, “Why do you complain?”

“If you do fail, you have a year to simply try again!”

And so the worker thought about his two little boys at home.

He wanted to give them a better life in a backyard they could roam

He took the loan and used the money to go get his degree

Then the economy went to shit because of wall street's decree

And so the banker laughed, he had hooked yet another slave

An educated yet poor worker who's only sin was to be brave

“Work hard.” they said, and your future will be worth the cost

That is how an entire generation of workers became lost.
