I have been trying to find work for months. Hundred oh hours spent on hundreds of applications. My wife just got layed off. Both of us are coming to the conclusion that businesses aren't actually hiring. There are tons of jobs I'm qualified or overqualified for, but where either my wife or me follow up with the businesses we apply to 95% of the time they inform us they aren't hiring. The listing in there to have back up workers. Meanwhile my friends are complaining that they are working in skeleton crews because they don't have enough workers.
Are businesses just deciding to run on skeleton crews because it's better for the bottom line? If so why do they have ads on job boards if they don't want to hire.
One of the companies doing this is Walmart.
