confused recent graduate

i apologize in advance if this is the wrong subreddit to post in. delete it if it’s not the correct one. as the title states, i am a recent graduate with a m.s. in psychology. i have extensive knowledge in research and various protocols but focused my capstone on mindfulness-based interventions (mbi’s) on veterans with ptsd. in addition, i took a variety of courses— that while still had me utilize research strategies (e.g. article searching, writing scholarly work)— touched on subjects of mental health and counseling. currently struggling on locating jobs that don’t require a license or further education as i am beyond burnt out from school, but feeling utterly overwhelmed and that i wasted 5 1/2 years to obtain this degree. i feel failed from my program as it forced me into research when i truly am not attempting for that path and not looking into the counseling route…

i apologize in advance if this is the wrong subreddit to post in. delete it if it’s not the correct one. as the title states, i am a recent graduate with a m.s. in psychology. i have extensive knowledge in research and various protocols but focused my capstone on mindfulness-based interventions (mbi’s) on veterans with ptsd. in addition, i took a variety of courses— that while still had me utilize research strategies (e.g. article searching, writing scholarly work)— touched on subjects of mental health and counseling. currently struggling on locating jobs that don’t require a license or further education as i am beyond burnt out from school, but feeling utterly overwhelmed and that i wasted 5 1/2 years to obtain this degree. i feel failed from my program as it forced me into research when i truly am not attempting for that path and not looking into the counseling route requiring licensing. i have some ideas but jobs are continuing to let me down as the continuous cycle ensues of wanting me to have experience outside of being in school but also have an advanced degree. it is important to note that my university i obtained my m.s. from was small and limited in their resources for internships and work opportunities. i worked as an intern at a shelter my undergraduate degree but during my graduate degree, got pushed into research heavily. i guess at the end of the day, i’m feeling beyond discouraged and screwed over by the workforce right now and with my degree. thanks for the time.

note: i also attended this university for both my b.s. and m.s. as i had strong relations with multiple faculty. that unfortunately changed come my time as a graduate student and when the program itself, took a significant dive downhill.
