I've been seeing a lot of companies try and intimidate and push workers to get back into the office. I've been thinking about it and wanted to share some of the things I DON'T miss about working in the office:
- All of the daily car accidents on my commute to work and asking myself every morning “Is this the day that I'm going to die commuting to a job that I hate”
- Shitty coworkers that have nothing better to do than gossip about other coworkers like we're in high school again
- Wondering if today is the day that “insert crazy unstable coworker X here” finally snaps
- Leaving my dogs home alone for 10 hours and coming home to them being depressed and having urinated or pooped on the floor from having to hold it so long
- Getting sick on a regular basis because “insert sick coworker X here” insists on bringing their illness into the office
- Having to use unsanitary restrooms because people decide they want to be gross and masturbate at work, pee on the floor, rip 60-second-long farts at the urinal, or not flush their poop like they were leaving it as a gift for the next employee
- Having my car constantly get damaged from road debris or inconsiderate people who leave door dings in the parking lot
- The cost and stress of commuting
- That one coworker that decides they want to microwave a filet of fish that smells like its been sitting in the sun for three weeks
- That other coworker that decides the best way to cook eggs is to microwave them at work and makes their coworkers suffer with the smell
- Trying to stay awake in meetings and pay attention to things I have zero interest in or have zero impact on my role or job
Those are just some that come to mind, would love to hear yours!
