I finally asked my boss for a raise last week. I played it smart and offered an idea to help the company and he liked it and approved. I then showed him other job listings with similar positions as mine and what those companies are offering. I work for a small business and I prefer to stay with if my boss can work with me.
I’ve been working at a low pay for too long and my position is just as important as our accounts manager at our company so I feel like I should be fairly compensated, which is what I told him.
He said he would do some research and get back to me but I have very little faith it will be what I’m asking.
The other issue is I currently receive SNAP benefits because of my daughter (if I did not have her I would not be eligible) but if my boss offers lower than what I requested, I will lose our benefits and be in the same boat of not able to afford enough food for my daughter and I. Just feel like I can’t win!
