Was asked to sit in on an executive meeting reviewing the performance targets for June (just to play slide master given it’s far too laborious for leadership to hit display and click a mouse but hey I’ll take it…)
The COO was particularly excited to announce the new incentive for office (US branch of a European based furniture company) if we hit June sales targets. Multiple references throughout the presentation was getting me excited. What could it be? This must be something worth it!
20 minutes later and the big prize is…a pizza party! I couldn’t help but die on the inside and let out a laugh covered by a big fake smile.
We are doing something wrong in the US. A conference call of European executives were truly believed this will be a big motivator for the US team. Excited to see the lack of applause when this is announced to the team. I need to think about how to let an out of touch executive team know just how far off they are.
