Why aren't more (any) politicians pushing for a federal jobs guarantee? It could pay enough to effectively require private employers to pay a living wage. It would also work as an automatic stabilizer during downturns. Stephanie Kelton proposed this in her book the deficit myth, but I never hear politicians talk about it.
