So I just handed in my notice at my current employer, managed to get him just as he walked in. He enjoys to close his door and proceed to communicate through passive aggressive slack notifications.
Me “Hi boss, could have have a minute”
Boss “if it’s only a minute”
Me “I’m formally giving my contractually obliged 4 weeks notice effective today. Here is a letter of resignation”
Boss … silcence… Turns purple “can I ask why?”
Me “I’ve been offered other opportunities that better align with what I want in life”
Boss “what are you going to be doing?”
Me “I don’t need to answer that”
Boss “Yes you do it’s the law”
Me “open google and show me the law”
….
Boss “DO YOU UNDERSTAND YOU ARE ABANDONING YOUR STUDENTS”
Me “I feel like shouting is a childish way to conduct this”
Boss “IVE PUT YEARS AND X DOLLARS INTO TRAINING YOU”
Me “all required training payments were garnished from my wages”
Boss “This is abandonment of your duties to your schools and your learners”
Me (smiling) “that’s the point, I’m resigning”
Proceeds to slam his hands on the bench and tell me to GTFO
Me “Your current actions are 95% of the reason you have 0 staff retention, you treat us like numbers on a page and expect loyalty. I won’t be training my replacement, I will finish my duties and that’s it”
