Hi, (17F) here.
(Throwaway account post)
So here's the story with my work place- a pizza place closeish to my house. I got the job and started my working interview with a manager, B. Now as I was learning the ropes – taking calls, understanding how to take orders from him, etc, he seemed a little bit odd. B simply just put me on phones and dishes for my interview, watching me as I worked.
Everything was generally quiet for the first hour or two, before B started yelling at a driver for not doing what he was allegedly supposed to and just standing around on his phone waiting for a delivery. I was over by the sink at the time and B walks over, still visibly angry that his driver wasn't doing what he was told I assume. He just kept going on and on, and I stayed quiet just listening to what he has to say. What threw me off is he suddenly goes of track of the conversation and says – “You don't have to worry about me hurting you, I don't hit women.” I was confused by this, but didn't want to ask him why he had to say that when it should already be common sense that a manager shouldn't hit their employees regardless of their gender.
Another thing he said is “I like to keep women on the phones taking calls, because your voices sound much nicer.”
I don't know. It gave me a off putting vibe, and thought it belonged here. I don't know If it's just some weird hunch but I didn't think he had to say that he wanted to fight some of his employees but wouldn't because he'd get sued.
