I applied to my current position (chemist, post said senior chemist) out of necessity(previous company I worked for closed). That being said they were offering minimum on the posting the same as my last job (R&D chemist/project manager) except I’d have to drive a little further. At $60k I could manage the extra gas/tolls and still pay my bills although it was gonna be very tight. Plus i was shooting for $65k anyways since the indeed posting said $60-70k. Well the process takes almost 2 months (so now I’m 2months unemployed doing Uber to just stay afloat) and finally they hit me with the offer for $55k and dropping the senior from the title saying it’s just the intro rate and once I’m done with my training period it would go up. I was so scared of them rescinding the offer if I tried to negotiate the pay that I just accepted it but made it clear it was only because I was expecting the pay raise. So I’ve had to Uber on top of working full time to pay my bills and I was ok doing it for a little bit. Now it’s been 4months I’ve been working here and since I get no days off between ubering and working, it has started to show with my getting to work anywhere from 10-20min late. And I’ve called sick 3 times because I was just too exhausted. Still no response on when they’re gonna increase my pay. And JUST NOW I get an indeed email saying they’re hiring a senior chemist with the same qualifications I have but paying anywhere from $70-80k. I am so livid right now. Don’t feel like working.
