One of the insidious things about saying “no one wants to work” is that it implies we have an innate desire to have a job. Most people are only willing to work. They are prepared and ready, but they don't have a passion for it. Employers might be in real trouble if they admitted that people were not willing to work because it would be up to them to create the circumstances to attract candidates. Instead, they want to shame people into thinking that everyone wants to be productive by going to a job 5-7 days a week.
If I'm willing to work, I'll to go somewhere that pays well, has a non-toxic atmosphere and will grind me down a less than average amount every day. If I just wanted to work for the sake of working, I'd take whatever was offered to me. I did that when I needed to work. Employers don't care about wanting to work. They're just using want in place of need because “No one needs to work!” sounds a lot like that Applebees guy who was looking forward to fuel cost related desperation.
The labor shortage is due to a threshold of people who want to stay home and live life. However, many of them are willing to work at a place that meets a set of standards. If an employer meets them they'll have no problem getting workers. Keep acting like a bad employer and prepare for more tricks and whining about no one having a deep longing to get yelled at for minimum wage.
