This morning I get an email from my boss with a pic of a partial vehicle registration that includes a name, address and VIN. No additional information. He wants me to make a payment and then continue making monthly payments. I have no idea the payment amount, account number, etc. I spent 5 hours calling dealerships, gathering sensitive information, which I should not have access to, for my bosses daughter. She gave her DOB and SSN. When I asked for an invoice, car statement for an account number she told me “My Dad gets the mail and he doesn’t let us have it.” 5 hours at $14.00 an hour I spent making phone call after phone so I could finally get all the information needed to make her past due car payment. I was so mad because I thought to myself, “Jeez! This guy is so successful and his own children can not even give me the correct information to make a car payment”. It doesn’t end there. The mother called me to pay off her daughters old car and pretty much the same scenario. I was really upset because they say give a poor person a million dollars and he’ll be poor again in just a year. But give a million dollars to a rich person and he’ll be 3 million dollars richer in just a year. How? Just, how is this possible?
I have not worked for this company for very long. It’s obvious money is no object. I found that this co. was supposed to be getting a 2 per cent discount on one of its vendor accounts and the discount had not been taken advantage of in over a year before I started working there. I told my bosses boss that I think the company should be getting some kind of discount because the same rules applied as to other vendors that they do get discounts from. My bosses boss called that company. Yes, they were supposed to be getting a discount. However bosses boss did not even let me know this was the case. I called because I do that to have them come pick up their check and the manager of the vendor company got on the phone and said, “yes I just got off the phone with bosses boss and yes you are supposed to be getting a 2 percent discount. You guys just quit paying it one day and I never said anything.” My response was, “In that case your check is not ready yet, I’ll call you back when it is.” I saved that company over a thousand dollars just that week. Again, how? How is this possible? And the fact that bosses boss didn’t even bother to communicate to me that “YES there should be a discount” knowing I needed to cut a check that day. Am I upset? YES! I get paid 14 an hour. Will bosses boss even communicate to BOSS that I have saved them much money (to me any way)? Probably not.
TLDR; It must be nice to have so much money that you don’t even need to apply discounts agreed upon to other vendors and to be so oblivious to real life that you can spend however much you want and live a wonderful life without even knowing how to pay your own bills.
