Saw a horrible Maccas (Aussie McDonald’s) story, and thought I’d share a good one

Not saying that McDonald’s isn’t awful, but I do have a certain amount of faith in the Australia McDonalds. I’m from a relatively small town in Australia (about 75 thousand people), and we have 2 maccas stores, both owned by the same guy. Back in 2019, the man who owned them verbally assaulted his neighbour, an aboriginal man and an acclaimed artist, because they both live in the marina, which is an expensive area where we’re from. Maccas immediately fired him, revoking his franchisee rights and destroying his career. We all have a very negative view of our work, because most of this sub are Americans, but I just wanted to share what it’s like in Australia, where maccas is unionised, offers traineeships to its employees, pays a fair wage, and genuinely cares. This is what America could have, if McDonald’s there cared about their employees. Link: https://junkee.com/mcdonalds-mildura-fired-racist/234954
