Shitty boss+time=shitty employee

My boss sucks. He's constantly on the phone to his partner/kids' teachers/kids during work hours. Frequently other colleagues will come over and sit at his desk while they talk for up to an hour sometimes. He'll show up two hours after office hours start and just shrug and say 'kids ya know?', only to leave at 2pm. But if anyone else is 5 mins late it's unacceptable and disappointing, and we're 'letting the team down'. Basically, he does fuck all at work. He's very passive aggressive about team members who he considers 'lazy', and straight up rude to those who he doesn't like: the line of his approval could not be more obvious. Super unprofessional, obviously taking advantage of opportunities to do less, and judgemental of everyone and anyone that isn't his good friend. This is a corporate workplace, and I find myself disgusted that such an asshole was allowed…

Super unprofessional, obviously taking advantage of opportunities to do less, and judgemental of everyone and anyone that isn't his good friend. This is a corporate workplace, and I find myself disgusted that such an asshole was allowed into a position of authority.
Over time in this workplace, I've found myself having less and less fucks to give about my performance, my promptness, and overall professional image. In fairness when I started I was absolutely naive to the company culture, and thought my boss was a good person. But now, even though my eyes have been opened to the realities of the company I work for (they DGAF about anyone earning less than 100k), I'm still so frustrated that I've allowed my passion for high quality work to dissolve based on influence of someone who I don't like. Even though I've decided I'm on my way out, and I'm still one of the best workers in my team, I'm afraid to list this boss as a reference, as my work quality has dropped, and knowing he's a vindictive asshole I'm not sure I can trust him to be a good professional reference.
TLDR; classic 'do as I say not as I do' boss has all but destroyed my motivation to produce high quality work.
