Would you sign a non-compete?

Just got a job offer that is a 33% raise from what I make now, and fully remote. But I have to sign a non-compete, which I’ve never done before. My dad is an attorney and read it over and said it’s unnecessarily intense and hostile. I would be in a low level role so I’m sure I’d never be on their radar and nothing would come to pass, but I really hate the thought of signing my rights away to the company. What are y’all’s thoughts on this? I know we’re all cogs in the capitalist machine but something about signing on the dotted line to your own subservience makes me cringe….but also, $$$ and wfh….am I being too righteous? Thanks so much for any advice.
