Benefits can’t pay rent or buy food…

The average length of employment at a company – or tenure – in the US is 4.1 years. It's not uncommon for certain fields to see a lot of two year stints these days. Most of the time changing employers is the only way you can get a decent pay increase. A great benefits package is only a good thing if you're employees will stick around long enough to get any kind of use out of it. If you're only sticking around long enough to figure out that your raises won't keep up with the market or inflation, what good are benefits? I don't know why companies can't figure this out. Question – how long have you been at your job?
