My bf (21) is a part-timer at our local Starbies in NC. Some workers at the location are talking about unionizing with SB United, but he’s concerned about being fired – we’re both college students, the income is necessary for him and there’s not a lot of open jobs in our town right now.
How can he try to prevent retaliation? Organize off company time? Get everything in writing? And, if he is fired, would the NLRB or other group provide a lawyer for a lawsuit? We wouldn’t be able to afford one otherwise, plus he’d barely have time to handle the suit with classes going on.
