I just graduated college with two BAs and a minor in December. I went back to finish school because I wanted a chance at better jobs and a better life. Now I'm working the worst job I've ever had with no benefits, no time off, an incompetent boss, and making barely enough to survive.
I've been applying for different positions for three months. I've applied in person, online, followed up with every email and every phone call and haven't had a single offer. Usually I don't hear back at all. Housing prices and rent are skyrocketing, my bank is constantly charging me for having too little money, I feel like the only chance for even a comfortable or stable life is to get out of the country.
I'm a skilled and educated worker, and I LOVE to work! I'm a complete workaholic! But i can't put any amount of passion into my work when I'm relying on handouts and the food bank to survive and a company that treats me like I owe them more than I already give them. My energy is depleted, looking for another job is like another full time job I'm not getting paid for, and what is there to even look forward to in the US?
God forbid I break my leg or get sick, I would lose what little I have AND end up in debt. What hope is there really that anything here in the US will get any better?
