Lets break for moment, from hating on work and put some thought into imagining life without.
By that I mean, take a legitimate stab at describing what you think an actual, functioning national or global economy would look like if work was optional. Imagine it as an evolution of our current economic system, within say 20 years; That is to say, its not dependent on nanotechnology, mass population reduction, or some other post-scarcity wizardry.
For reference: One vision of such is Greg Bear's “Queen of Angels” world where people can select out, and live in the margins – housed, fed, protected, and entertained, but marginalized.
I see universal income, cohousing, and co-op ownership as key enablers.
