This is actually about a friend of me and my brother who did one day on a job and never bothered calling in and saying that it wasn't for him. Please note that this happened in last year.
This all starts off simply with who I'll call J needing a job. My brother who is a good friend of J offers him a job at the electrical company that he worked for. J agreed and needed cloths. So he and my brother go and get them some Walmart as all he had we not suitable for the job. J was given one task for the entire day: set up fuse boxes. He was shown how to do it and did it all day. He even grabbed a 5 gallon bucket for a seat. They wrap up with the work, J is dropped off, and my brother comes home.
The next day J doesn't show up. My brother ask if he's called in or has come in. He hasn't. Please note that this is a field of work where your reputation is very important. It doesn't matter if you are a great worker or good person to be around, one bad move can permanently label you. My brother is freaking out and goes to J's house after work. Turns out he didn't want to do it anymore and thought that it was exhausting. Keep in mind that he was only doing fuse boxes. A very simple thing. My brother forces him to return the clothes and call in and explain everything.
Moral of this? Yeah none. Go apprentice for a trade. Get money and a good career.
Edit: he only did this for one singular day.
Average starting pay for a residential/commercial electrician is 16-18 dollars and hour.
It's very easy to start making more money in this line of work seeing as in an apprenticeship you can get all necessary certifications and make more money.
This is also a line of work that you can start a business after getting plenty of hours in and getting good relationships with others.
