What do you say to those who say minimum wage is for teenagers and if they want a real job they should get a higher education?

What is the best way to counter these types of people? They seem to think that all you gotta do is buckle down and work hard and everything will be fine! That minimum wage is just a starter job you take to get your foot in the door. Then you go to college and graduate then apply everywhere until you find a good paying job. Should be so easy right?
