Is Renting An Extra Bedroom Out Unethical By Turning Me Into A “Landlord?”

I own a 3 BR and have an extra bedroom that I don't really use. I can use it to build out into a gaming room, home theater room, home gym but live a somewhat minimalist life. I know sentiment on here is pretty negative regarding landlords and how they essentially extract wealth from another's labor. But places in my area rent for over $1k/month, and my mortgage is less than that and it's made me consider making it an option. However, I like my privacy and a quiet environment is important in both my work and personal life so that comes with a price to be willing to compromise on. With that in mind, what's this subs thoughts on the idea of potentially renting the room to someone who needs it?
