Joke's on them. I got two other remote jobs. That one paid the least and worked me the most (like 10 hours a week but still too much for that garbage ass pay). My other two jobs pay $80k+ and 30 minutes after they had a fucking group meeting to let everyone else know I was terminated, I'd gotten an offer from another company for $80k. It's almost as if these morons wanna reward being unproductive.
It used to be pretty chill until some annoying ass boomer project manager took over. All the other program managers liked me. He was just an annoying fuck who tried micromanaging the shit outta me and put me on a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan), because I skipped a meeting that was always skipped before he showed up. I was still producing results (and one of the highest achievers in the department at that). Right before he put me on a PIP, he asked me to do a task and I said that I'd get to it after I was done with something else which was a priority at the moment which is when he threw a hissy fit and told me he gets to decide what the priorities are and what I and everyone else work on. My coworker and I legit cringed at that.
So anyways after I'm PIPed, I just quit turning on my work computer altogether. I didn't attend any meetings. I didn't do any work. Nothing. My coworkers let me know when they had that meeting that I was terminated and they knew the entire time that I'd be safe with alternative sources of income. Furthermore, get this. They were paying my coworkers who'd been there forever like $40k for fucking database developer roles when they could be getting like $100k. I thought I was being underpaid, but the most tenured ones had it the worst.
As of right now, I'm looking to secure a fourth remote job. The more job security, the merrier. Just kinda wish service workers had this level of security.
