TL;DR this is a rant about getting suspended over something very stupid by a man with memory issues. Mind you I also have not ever received a raise since working there and I work for minium wage thank you for reading and I am sorry about the long rant
I am 22 and have worked for a college cafeteria for the last 3 I had gotten suspended from work for not having a set of catering pizzas ready for an event at 12:30. I would normally clock in at 10:25 but the time clock is broken and won't let you clock in until 3 minutes till.
I am already clothed for work and ready to clock in when in comes the big boss who likes to micro-manage but doesn't understand what exactly we do out front and just doesn't seem to trust us at all. He attempts to micromanage how we serve food, clean, and generally do our jobs. I have been working at the pizza station for a full year by now and he has become overbearing and constantly breathing over my shoulder. A catering order had come through and that is perfectly fine I do catering pizzas often enough except the customer wanted a Veggie pizza. I did not want to do a normal veggie pizza because how the cafeteria does it is not entirely appetizing.
I wanted to wait and speak with the catering manager who takes the orders and see. However, I had gotten the other pizzas done they wanted 2 meat lovers a cheese, and 2 pepperonis the only thing missing was the tags for the cheese and pepperoni. He gets upset at me for not having them ready when previously he has gotten upset at us for having them done too soon.
We do them the day before to save on prep time but all the veggie needed was the chopped-up vegetables. He suspended me despite being extremely short-handed already and with one manager out taking care of his injured wife and two small children and another who quit because of his and other managers' crap and many unreliable workers.
Like one who will leave his station to go drink in the bathroom without informing anyone and one who will leave without notice. The only reliable manager is about to quit because she does not get a day off and has been working consistent 60 to 70 hour work weeks with a pinched nerve in her shoulder.
Other than me and a select few the other employees are much more in the senior citizen territory and closer to retirement age. if one of them leaves he'll be screwed over by his choice. I've also already have an interview set up with a high-paying job and if I get it I will happily leave him to his own self-destruction.
